Nail Trends: Spring/Summer 2013
I am obsessed with nail colors and personally change mine rather frequently. I think its a fun, simple and cost effective way to exude your personality. What colors work? Personally I try any colors that make me smile when I look at them- But here are some tips you can consider when choosing a nail colour.
# Occasion: Is it for work, party or simply for fun ?
# Consider your overall look: What look do you want to achieve?
# Glamaliciouselegance: go for looks that are glamorous and elegant ( I have seen some nail designs that simply look tacky and over the top, if you want to be adventurous play with colors and not crazy 3D designs. If you really love your stones, go for classic designs with white stones and not outlandish flowers and whatnot sticking out of your nails)
# Age: make sure your nails are age-appropriate, don't wear loud colors if you are over 25, it screams i-am-trying-to-be 15 again (unless of course you are a rock star ). Cobalt blue, electric blue, reds, purples, army greens and mustard colors are great for adults but not bright greens and yellows for example.
This is a rocking new alternative to the traditional French manicure known for its elegance and timelessness. This is great for those who are opting for a chic yet glamorous look. There are two ways to do this. The traditional lighter base with the darker tip.My personal fav ? Opt for a darker base colour and pair it with a lighter tip- the colors can be anything you want- pair it with your fav shoes or eye colour for that extra oomph! Make sure to create a crescent and not a perfect manicure tip. You are the Picasso of your nails here- Have fun!

HERE ARE MY TOP 4 NAIL TRENDS
Dee's Nail Fav 1: Moon Mani
Vivienne Westwood Spring/Summer collection 2013 opted for the Moon Mani trend |
Dee's Nail Fav 2: Metallic Chic
Elie Saab, Moschino and Jason Wu spotted the Metallic Nails for Spring /Summer 2013 |
The metallic nails to me are very high fashion and classy. The solid hues with the sheen is fun and wearable for the career woman and fashionista. Choose colors that will accentuate the metallic sheer, like silver, black or cobalt blue- pair it with a rock chic wardrobe for that ultimate edge.
Dee's Nail Fav 3: Colour Me Dark Purple
Marchesa Luxe Purple Spring/Summer 2013 |
A variation to the black we see all the time, the luxe dark purple colour adds a sense of mystery to a woman wearing it. This is a great way to tone down a look for ladies who love colors in their dressing- pulling the entire look of sophistication. Think Megan Fox- dark, twisty and sexy.
Dee's Nail Fav 4: Au Natural
Thinking of going natural? Here's a perfect way to start. Do natural looking nails that will go with any style. Choose a just-been-pinched pink shade or semi transparent tones or stylize your nude nails with shapes like oval or semi-circles in pale or milk colors to be different. Perfection.

LOVE.....MOVIES......FASHION
Timeless beauty....Audrey Hepburn makes looking classy and elegant so effortless. She made it an iconic look in the 1960s and we are still rocking it with a few zesty additions of the new millennium!
This is definitely a millennium adaptation of the LBD look- classic and chic. Both Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway are wearing black and white looks which never ever will go out of style.
Rachel McAdams' wardrobe set in the 1940s for The Notebook ... What's not to love? Oh wait Ryan Gosling ladies!
This look still works today- with different hair and make-up probably, Olivia Newton John looks like a sexy siren in a skin tight all black ensemble and red shoes to boost in Grease. John Travolta next to her doesn't hurt either!
Absolutely ravishing Emma Stone in the 1940s movie Gangstar Squad. It's definitely a throwback to old Hollywood glamour. Love it!
Who can forget the successful, beautiful and highly fashionable ladies of Sex and the City? Most notably credited for turning Sarah Jessica Parker into a fashion icon- it was a fashion bible for most us whilst it lasted!
This may not be an iconic look, but Jennifer Aniston looked incredible in the Break Up. Her hair, body and the dresses. Amazing for someone going through a break up! In fact that's how all girls should look during a break-up, show men what they are truly missing!
Sharon Stone.... Basic Instinct.... Enough said ...

SHOE MANIA!
With recent inspiration from the runway for cool tones. I decided to start with accessories. On a recent shoe craze, i went and bought cool tone (otherwise known as jewel tones) wedges from Charles and Keith and loafers from Mitjui for a wardrobe inspiration. Since I have tonnes of black in my wardrobe, this is an interesting way to jazz up my outfits. Sometimes all it takes are shoes to makes us feel like supermodels!

2013's Black & White Trend....... Yin & Yang Fabulous!
Absolutely loving the black and white trend of 2013. Celebs like Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, Mila Kunis and many more have been seen sporting the trend. The monochromatic colors spell simplicity and ooze style. The best part of it all? Anyone can sport a fantastic Yin & Yang style! The trend is both fun and flirty for day and night looks.
Flaunt the Look!
Here's a look that you can flaunt in the day. Add a pop of colour with an accessory to express your personality. This look is both casual and chic and is perfect for the lady on the move. Switch the loafers to heels and you are set to rock the evening!
1. Striped Tee, Miss Selfridge
2. Lace Side Short, Miss Selfridge
3. Suede Messenger Bag, Zara
4. Ladies Loafers, Pedro
